Group members: Shaun Bryndzia, Sudha Marimuthu

Minute taker: Shaun

Duration: 45 mins – 1 hour

1st Meeting

• This is the initial meeting, formed by spit up of former research group, to smaller groups of two or three.

• Both myself and Shu are still wanting to continue with our previous research topics of public interactive, multimedia technology.

• The previous ideas revolved around multimedia technology used in public space either by many people at the same time, sharing the same interface, or by using multiple interfaces within close proximity with each other that allows multiple uses to communicate via activity.

• Interests of technology such as Wireless devices that can tap into networks where uses can share information with the use of a device has been discussed. Also with the use of RFID (radio frequency identification) which was researched may also be another possible path to follow.

• Shu’s interest was also on public displays and multimedia installations where lots of people can share the experience at the same time.

• Our ideas at this stage is that these two subjects and themes could be merged together in some way.

Other topics discussed:

• The use and development of Augmented Reality, where digital information can be merged with real environments. Eg: A pair of sunglasses that projects information into them, which can give you details about your surroundings.

• RFID public tagging: Where a user can digitally mark a real location with portable device such as a mobile phone, and others can receive that information and ad to it.

• Would be cool if both the new emerging technologies of Augmented reality and digital tagging could be combined.
